The Final Curtain

by Celestyna Brozek

Sad shower curtains once destined for the landfill will be happy to know that Jane Bowler’s got their back. With deft design-ery and a snappy motto (destruction is creation) Jane harnesses the power of technology using such techniques as ultra-sonic welding an laser shredding to transform plastic sheets into ethereal creations of reminiscent of futuristic warrior cowgirls. Don’t ask how I got cowgirls – I think it may have to do with all the fringe.

While the shredded nature of these nonetheless covet-able garments takes them out of the running for serious rain protection, it does make them serious contenders for the “most likely to cause dancing in the rain” award. Imagine spinning around in your giant fringed cloak, spraying everyone within a mile radius with droplets of water – as if they weren’t getting soaked enough. OK, there is one piece that looks like it might actually keep the water out, so for those of you who value practicality in your clothing, you’re covered. Haha.

Chalk up another win for beautiful up-cycle/creative re-use.
